Usually, the moong dal or moong dal khichdi itself sounds a little boring but we can give a healthy & tasty twist to it by making fritters (moongodal) , kofta or chilla etc.

It can suffice the need of protein and and tastes really good. These recipes are very healthy and relished by kids.

We usually make green moong pakodas as evening snacks and combine with green mint chutney but this is a different twist to make it a main course recipe to combine with Rice, parathas or chapatis.

Recipe for Healthy Moong Dal kofta curry:

To make Koftas:

  1. Wash and rinse moong dal thoroughly and saok for 1 hour.

2. After 1 hour remove excess water and transfer dal to a blender jar and blend it to make a smooth paste.

3. Take the paste out in a bowl and add besan, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder & chaat masala and mix well.

4. Now, apply a little oil on your palms, take the small portion of the mixture and gently make round flattened koftas then heat, 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and gently drop the koftas in it.

5. Cook the koftas on a low-medium flame until turned golden brown.

6. Flip the koftas and fry from the other side.

6. Once the koftas turn brown and crispy, take them out on a paper towel to drain out the excess oil.

To make gravy:

  1. Cut the onions in small cubes and in a blender jar then add garlic & green chillies.

2. Blend everything together to make a fine paste.

3. Heat oil in a kadhai and add whole spices like cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, pepper corns & cardamoms and let them crackle.

4. Add the onion, garlic and green chilly paste and sauté well.

5. Once the paste gets dried up, add dry spices like coriander powder, red chilli powder turmeric and garam masala and mix well.

6. Now, add tomato puree and mix well until the oil oozes out.

7. Mix everything together and further add whisked curd to it and mix well.

8. Further add crushed kasoori methi and water and stir. Cover the lid and cook for 3-4 minutes at a medium flame and then 2 more minutes at a low flame so that all the spices mingle together well and gravy starts to thicken.

9. Finally drop, koftas in the gravy and cook for 2-3 minutes at a low flame. Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves and Serve Healthy Moong Dal Kofta Curry Recipe | moong dal kofte ki sabzi hot and enjoy with chapati, parathas , rice etc.
