We usually get this sweet from the popular sweet shops but it is as easy to make at home as it tastes.

There is another form of these Easy Motichoor Laddoo which is called “Boondi laddoo” which is also made out of gram flour or besan but the saize of the pearls or boondi is a little bigger in size.As Rakshabandhan is approaching I thought what can be a better occasion to share the recipe of these delicious “Easy Motichoor Laddoo and to make these I have not used any special kitchen tool or appliance like any halwai or sweet vendors use.

For making sugar syrup:

Note/ Tips to follow:

Step wise recipe for Easy Motichoor Laddoo:

To make sugar syrup:

1. Heat 2 cups of water in a wide & deep pan and add 1 cup of sugar. Add 2-3 cardamoms and boil it on a low flame until the sugar dissolves. Stir occassionally. We do not need to make 1 string syrup. Once the sugar dissolves heat the it for 4-5  minutes more and turn off the heat. Keep it aside.

To make boondi pearls or motichoor:

1. Take 1 cup besan in a mixing bowl and add a pinch of baking soda.

2. Add water gradually and keep whisking to avoid lumps to make a smooth batter.

3. Make a thin & flowy batter as shown in the picture.

4. Now, heat desi ghee or oil in a kadhai. Take a poori frying ladle and keep it over the kadhai. Slowly start pouring the batter through it using a spoon.

5. Fry the batter on a low flame to make boondis. Do not over fry it as we do not want them to change the color.

6.  Keep stirring using a spatula for about half a minute and take out from the kadhai. Repeat the process for the remaining batter.

7. If the size of the boondi pearls is not fine enough, grind it in a mixer for one short swirl. We do not need to grind them back to  the powder form.

8. Now, add the boondi pearls to the warm sugar syrup and mix well so that the pearls are soaked well in the syrup. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes. If the sugar syrup is not warm enough, heat it for a few seconds on a low flame.

9. After 20 minutes, mix the ingredients together well gently. Now, take a small portion of the boondi mixture and bind it together to make laddoos. Garnish with the dry fruits of your choice and keep in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set before eating.
